Where to apply for a parking card
The parking card for people with reduced mobility in Galicia, is managed through the City Councils of each municipality. Contact the town hall where the person concerned resides so that they can provide you with the specific application form and give you specific information on how to carry out the procedure.
Who can be a cardholder?
In general, the parking card may be obtained by persons who are recognized as disabled and, in addition, have significant mobility problems, circumstances that must be accredited through the documentation issued for this purpose by the competent bodies for the assessment and qualification of the degree of disability. Once the card has been obtained, the holder of the card may use it in any vehicle in which he/she travels, whether or not he/she owns it and whether or not he/she drives it. In any case, when making use of the rights conferred by this card, it must be placed in a visible place in the vehicle.
What documentation is required?
It is necessary to present the completed standard form at the corresponding City Hall together with the following documentation:
- Two passport-size photographs.
- Photocopy of ID card.
- Photocopy of the IMSERSO disability certificate stating that the disability is recognized by the evaluation and orientation teams (EVO).
When will I get my card?
If the request for initiation does not meet the requirements, the applicant will be required to correct the deficiency or attach the necessary documents within a period of ten days, stating that if he/she fails to do so, he/she will be considered to have withdrawn his/her request. Once the application has been submitted, the City Council is obliged to issue an express resolution on the same within the maximum term established for such purpose. Once the Parking Card has been granted, it will be presented to its holder for signature and, once signed, it will be plasticized by the City Council and delivered to the interested party, together with a summary of the conditions for its use in the different member states of the European Union.
What is its scope of validity?
The cards granted by the City Councils will be valid throughout the territory of the Autonomous Community, without prejudice to their use in all the Member States of the European Union, under the terms that the respective Community City Councils have established with regard to the organization and circulation of vehicles.
What is the normative regulation of the same?
Assuming the postulates contained in the Recommendation of June 4, 1998, the Autonomous Communities, which are the ones with competence in matters of accessibility, have been approving different provisions regulating the legal regime applicable to this parking card, the right of its holders and the procedure for its concession.
- Articles 27 and 28 of Law 8/1997, of August 20, 1997, on accessibility and elimination of barriers in the Autonomous Community of Galicia.
