Dependency is the permanent state of people who, for reasons of age, illness or functional diversity, need the care of another person to be able to carry out basic life activities and support to live an autonomous life.

Requirements

Those specified in Article 5 of Law 39/2006, of December 14, on the Promotion of Personal Autonomy and Care for Dependent Persons, as well as residing and being registered in any municipality within the territorial scope of the Autonomous Community of Castilla La Mancha on the date of submission of the application.

The reasons for requesting recognition of the situation of dependency may be age, illness or disability, associated with the loss of physical, mental, intellectual or sensory autonomy. The situation of dependency must be of a permanent nature.

Description of the procedure

The procedure has two phases that coincide with two administrative resolutions. The first establishes the degree of dependency of the applicant (Grades I, II or III). The second resolution recognizes the right to certain services or benefits (Individual Care Program).

In order to request the recognition of the situation of Dependency and the right to the Benefits of the System, the corresponding application must be completed and registered and submitted at the Provincial Delegations of the Department of Social Welfare and other authorized registries and offices, or through the electronic headquarters of the Government of Castilla La Mancha. The application must be accompanied by a health report, which must be completed by your primary care physician; you can also complete this procedure through your local Social Services, which will inform you and help you fill it out.

Once the application for recognition of the situation of dependency has been submitted, the Dependency Service of the Provincial Social Welfare Office of the province of residence will summon a professional from the dependency team to your home to assess your ability to carry out the activities of daily living. Once this assessment has been carried out, together with the analysis of the health reports submitted, they will be informed by means of a resolution whether or not the degree of dependency is recognized, and if it is recognized, whether it is Grade I, II or III.

Subsequently, the Social Services of your locality or the dependency team of your province will contact you to assess your social and family situation, listen to your opinion and, according to your degree of dependency, study the most suitable resource to meet your care needs.
